Hi, I’m Tasha

I've spent eight years helping mums nourish themselves through pregnancy, postpartum and the toddler years. When I started seeing clients in their 40s I realised that most of them were still carrying the same sort of depletion I saw in my early motherhood clients – except the hormonal changes were amplifying it even more.

Nobody warns you that the years you spend depleting yourself for small children come back to find you a decade later. Perimenopause doesn't land on a rested body. It lands on whatever's left after everything motherhood has already taken.

I did all the reading on attachment-based parenting.

It made sense on paper.

But I kept falling short of it. Why couldn't I keep my calm the way the books said I should? Why did I find it so hard to find the patience, the elaborate messy play, the endless independent-play encouragement everyone said mattered?

Meanwhile the laundry became a mountain, the toys were everywhere, and I stopped looking in the mirror because I didn't like what I saw.

I felt like I was drowning.

That was when I worked out that all the attachment parenting in the world was no good to me if I wasn't looking after myself. If I wasn't sleeping. If I wasn't eating anything that actually gave me energy. If I never had a moment that was just mine. If I didn’t flow with the natural rhythms of life. Nobody in my family could thrive while I was stuck in survival mode.

And it dawned on me that all the things I was giving my children – love, attention, nutritious food, predictable rituals and routines – I needed too.

Then I hit my 40s and random new things kept turning up. Itchy ears, patches of eczema, hair loss, 3am wakeups despite the kids finally sleeping through. Everything my husband and kids did annoyed me. Steadily my dress size started increasing. And a blood test at my 40+ health check showed high cholesterol and inflammation.

Google told me I was probably hitting perimenopause.

I felt deflated and angry. Surely as a nutritional therapist this shouldn’t be happening?

But digging deeper I realised that, although I taught my clients how to nourish and prioritise themselves, I wasn’t always brilliant at following through myself. And the depletion that started in pregnancy was still there, and it was showing up faster with changing hormones amplifying the symptoms.

I knew I didn’t want to spend the next 10 years wondering whether it was time for HRT and steadily becoming the version of a mother I never intended to be.

So it was time to properly learn what it means to nourish myself.

I believe you can be a good mother without disappearing inside her.

And that starts with putting yourself back on the list.

And that's what I now help my clients do: not just eat better, but stop treating their own needs as the thing that gets sacrificed first.

I don’t believe in counting calories. I don’t believe in cutting out all carbs or going low-fat. I don’t believe in weighing yourself or relying on motivation or one-size-fits-all.

And I don't believe you have to just accept that this decade is exhausting and get on with it.

I do believe you can feel properly fed, sleep well, and like what you see in the mirror, without depriving yourself of anything.

The Rebuild Method

Everything I do, in REBUILD group programme and in 1:1 work, follows The Rebuild Method. We start with the meals you already eat and ask "what else can I add?", then work out what's running low, what perimenopause is actually doing to your body, and how to calm your nervous system enough to sleep well and find the energy to move again. Where something's still stuck, we go deeper and build a plan around you.

I know you dream of going to bed without replaying every time you snapped that day.

Of a morning that doesn't start with dread. Of your patience lasting longer than nine in the morning. Of eating well without feeling like you're either restricting or failing. Of sleeping through the night and waking up refreshed and full of energy. Of feeling like yourself in your own home again.

I believe it is possible to reach the other side of this decade without having spent your time micro managing everything just to get through the day.

And I believe the work to get there starts earlier than most people are told – but it’s never too late to start.

Get to know me

In 30 seconds…

I’m a mum of two.

I was born in Malaysia to a Portuguese-Malaysian father and British mother.

I spent the first 15 years of my life in Malaysia before moving to the UK for school. I still haven’t decided where home truly is.

I love tea brewed with tea leaves, homemade bread, chocolate, perfectly roasted hazelnuts and Malaysian food.

Three random facts about me

I was once an extra in a Bollywood film with Kylie Minogue.

I can read and write Latin and Ancient Greek.

I went to Durham University purely because I fell in love with the Cathedral.

What qualifies me to do this…

I studied for 3 years at the College of Naturopathic Medicine to qualify as a naturopathic nutritionist and the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice module from IFM. I also did a diploma as a Natural Chef, trained as a breastfeeding supporter with the Mindful Breastfeeding School and I am a sling peer supporter. I’m fully insured and supervised.
