Healthy Snacking with Sally Wade of Treat Trunk

Treat Trunk ep 3.jpg

In today's episode I talk to Sally Wade of Treat Trunk, a healthy snack box service.

We talk about:

  • Sally's journey through bingeing and how she came to start a healthy snack box service

  • What makes a healthy snack

  • Why snacking is so important for new mums

  • How mum guilt can get in the way of self-care

Sally is a mum of two, and after a long history of bingeing of sugary snacks, she overhauled her diet for good when she found that she could make tasty alternatives of her favourite snacks by substituting healthier ingredients. However, after she gave birth to her first child, she very quickly realised how important snacks were to fuel her recovery from childbirth and breastfeeding. She was much more prepared for her second, but became frustrated by the lack of easily available healthy snacks to give to her son for school and for herself.

She founded Treat Trunk to find healthier snacks for her family, and she champions small businesses with ethical values who care about the snacks they produce.

Treat Trunk is growing in popularity, especially during lockdown. Excitingly, Sally and I have been working together to produce a snack box just for new mums - full of tasty treats to give all new mums the energy they need to keep going, and that ‘ahhh’ moment when they can take a tiny moment just for themselves.

The new mums box will launch during Breastfeeding Week, in the first week of August.

Sally also gave a shout out to the fab-sounding healthy cooking kit for kids Not Just Nibbles.
