{12.11} Why Not? Talking Identity, Mindset and Horses with Chrissy Hawkins, Strength Coach for Equestrians
Listen on:
In this week's episode of Raising Healthy Mothers I talk to Chrissy Hawkins, an online strength coach for equestrians, discussing the sticky question of 'Why Not?', when the world around us insists on asking 'Why?'
We have a lot of fun finding parallels between the equestrians and mothers, discovering the martyrdom and sacrifice that each makes for their charge to the detriment of her own wellbeing. We conclude with the joint understanding that when an equestrian is strong, she is confident, which gives horses the confidence to trust their rider – and just so with motherhood, where our confidence shines through when we are well looked after, making us better leaders and role models to our children, in turn leading to better behaviour and more respect from our children.
We also discuss shifting identities and how that can affect our confidence and self-belief, and how well a new habit can stick.
This was a fun episode, full of laughter and plenty of mindset shifts!
